Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a gau-cabinet has been formed for conservation and promotion of cows in the state. Cattle-rearing and cow products will be promoted more in the state. Maximum participation of public and social organizations will be ensured in this. On Gopashtami, he himself will be visiting the biggest Salaria cow-sanctuary where he will perform Gau-pujan and hold discussion with Gau-seva experts in a seminar on conservation and promotion of cows. Chief Minister Chouhan said that Salaria cow-sanctuary will be developed as a model.
Chief Minister Chouhan was reviewing the preparations in Mantralaya today for the event to be held on November 22 at the Salaria cow-sanctuary. In the meeting, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Manoj vastava, Additional Chief Secretary J.N. Kansotiya besides other officials were present.
Indigenous breeds will be promoted
Chief Minister Chouhan said that indigenous breeds will be promoted under cow rearing in the state. Gau-kasht is the best alternative to wood, hence its production will be increased. Besides, various products made from cow’s milk, cow dung and gau-mutra will also be promoted. A modern cow research centre will also be opened in the Salaria cow-sanctuary.
Imposition of “Cow Cess” in the state under consideration
Chief Minister Chouhan said that “Cow Cess” (Cow-Service Tax) is also being considered for the promotion and conservation of cows in the state. With this, the government will be able to get sufficient amount for cow rearing and everyone will participate in this sacred work.
14 cow-experts will come from across the country
As many as 14 prominent cow-experts from across the country are participating in the event to be held on the day of Gopashtami at Salaria cow-sanctuary, with whom the Chief Minister will hold a seminar and discuss about conservation and promotion of cows in the state.
627 Gau-halas being run in the state
As many as 627 gaushalas are being run by voluntary organizations in the state, out of which one lakh 66 thousand Gau-vansh are being reared. There are about 8.5 lakh stray Gau-vansh in the state, which is our social responsibility.
Income tax exemption on donation for cows
Additional Chief Secretary J.N. Kansotiya said that there is income tax exemption under Section 80-G of Income Tax for donations made for cows.
