AFSPA extended in Nagaland for six more months

New Delhi: Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 has been extended in Nagaland for six more months with effect from today. In a notification issued by Home Affairs Ministry, it has been stated that the Central Government is of the opinion that the State of Nagaland is in a disturbed and dangerous condition and the use of armed forces in aid of the civil power is necessary. The Ministry further said, the Central Government declares that whole of the State of Nagaland to be disturbed area for a period of six months with effect from today.
