JMCH in the stage in the start DM, MCH courses, said Dr. HM Sarma

Jorhat : As the year 2018-19 is a red letter year for Jorhat Medical College who had reached to the stage to start DM, MCH courses within next three years which reached to the equivalent stage of Assam Medical College and Gauhati Medical College as no patients will be referred to and from JMCH, said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Health, Finance, Govt. of Assam during Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory inauguration ceremony at the Jorhat Medical College hospital premises here today.

For JMCH the year 2018-19 is a big turning point as four major system stared, firstly with the cost of 9 crore the department of Neuro-surgery has been started which is gaining momentum for helping poor patients to plant pace-makers and other Neo-surgical treatment, secondly in the same year the Medical Council of India had granted permission to start six technical PG Courses, like Gynecology, Surgery, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Radiology while JMCH was selected to be the MCI Evaluation Centre for Faculty members of Medical colleges of North East Region including Bengal as the centre was inaugurated recently by a five member team from MCI, New Delhi at a glittering function at JMCH. While the fourth milestone is the inauguration of the Cardiac Cath Lab which was assemble by a US Farm at the cost of 5 crore. Along with all this, now JMCH is in the stage to start DM-Doctorate of Medicine and MCH (Master of Surgery) department with academic courses, said Dr. Sarma, the Minister of Health.

Moreover the Health minister, congratulated all the professors, assistant professors, staff and employees from the JMCH who played a decisive role during the hour of emergency in treating the large number of Hooch Tragedy patients and in controlling the death rate which every professor and assistant professor desreve for their firm handling of the patients which was unfortunate to have lost huge casualty in three days time in the state of Assam that never happened in the history before, said Dr. Himanta Bisa Sarma.

Hitendra Narh Goswami, the Speaker Assam Legislative assembly asked doctors to take up their profession not only in treating patients but also should start research in growing diseases like kidney and cancer and treating the poor. Others those spoke in the occasion were Kamakhya Prasad Tasa-MP Jorhat, Tapan Kumar Gogoi-Minister for Power, Dr. Anup Barman-Director Medical Education, Assam, Dr. Atul Chandra Boro-Principal JMCH, Samir Kumar Sinha-Principal Secretary, Department of Health, Govt of Assam, and Dr. Saurav Borkotoky.
