SIVASAGAR : Every household will have access to safe drinking water as the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) will reach every locality by 2024. Assam Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said. An inspection in this regard will be conducted from this month. By 2024, every household will have to be watered. “From this month, SHGs will go door-to-door to inspect water taps, pipes etc,” the minister told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with the district administration in Sivasagar district.
During the meeting, Barua discussed the JJM and tourism sector with the district administration and directed them to expedite the work of Jal Jeevan Mission.Minister for Public Health Technical and Tourism, Government of Assam, Jayanta Malla Barua today held a review meeting with the public health technical and tourism officers of the district at the Sukapha meeting room of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district.
The minister took stock from the departmental officials about the progress of work on the ongoing Jal jeevan scheme, especially in Sivasagar district, during the review meeting attended by Jogen Mohan, Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Assam and Mla from Thaora Assembly constituency Sushanta Borgohain. The minister also mentioned that field level testing of projects of Jal Jeevan Yojana will be carried out by SHGs in the coming days. It also directed that the schemes be completed on time and all correct information regarding the scheme be submitted. On the other hand, the minister opined that various projects of the tourism department which are already being implemented in Sivasagar district should be completed in the current month.
