GUWAHATI :Khalistan supporter Amritpal will also be questioned by central intelligence agencies. Amritpal has been kept in a separate cell away from his accomplices, a senior official said. Nine of his accomplices are lodged in the jail, who have been arrested from Punjab and sent to jail. Sources said that a team of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and other central intelligence agencies will soon reach Dibrugarh jail to interrogate Amritpal. Sources said Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh, who was brought to Dibrugarh on April 23, has been kept in a separate cell. Amritpal Singh, who heads ‘Waris Punjab Day’, was lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail around 3 pm on April 23 amid tight security.Associates of self-styled preacher Amritpal Singh, who was arrested earlier, were also lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail. “Amritpal has been kept in a separate cell away from his accomplices, who are in the same jail after being arrested during the Punjab Police action,” sources said. He will be questioned about his associates and his source of funds. Intelligence agencies have got many important information about his relations with Pakistan and other countries. At the same time, the security of the jail has also been tightened. The jail premises are guarded by elite Black Cat commandos of the Assam Police, the CRPF and other security personnel. Built in the heart of Dibrugarh city, this prison is spread over 76,203.19 square meters. Several leaders of separatist organisations such as the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) have been lodged in the jail. In 1991, five high-profile ULFA militants escaped from the jail. After this, the height of the walls of the jail has been increased to 30 feet. 57 CCTV cameras are used to monitor the inmates and visitors inside the jail.
