Bengaluru : Harrisons Malayalam Limited (HML), part of the RPG Group and one of South India’s largest tea and rubber producers, has been recognised this year as both a great employer and a maker of award-winning tea. HML was ranked 21st among India’s Great Places to Work (GPTW) 2026 and honoured at the EFI-CII National Award for Excellence in Employee Relations.
The recognitions validate a decade-long journey. Since 2015, HML has moved from a traditional plantation employment model to one built on dialogue, dignity and shared growth. Guided by the people policies of its parent company, RPG Group, the change has strengthened trust on the estates, helped retain people and opened clearer pathways for women into supervisory and leadership roles.
“Ten years ago, we chose to invest in our people’s wellbeing and their growth. What we are seeing now is the result: in our relationships, our culture and even the quality of our tea. These recognitions belong to our people and their families on our estates,” said Cherian George, CEO and Whole Time Director, Harrisons Malayalam Limited.
As an employer, HML’s strongest endorsement comes from the people who make up most of its workforce – women. The company was named among India’s top 10 Great Places to Work for Women, along with receiving the Special Appreciation for Employee Relations at the EFI-CII award. HML’s 83rd ranking in GPTW Asia further strengthens its commitment in its people.
