Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) continues its agitation demanding Removal/Suspension of Bodoland University Vice Chancellor Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh from Bodoland University and appointment of new Vice Chancellor.
The ABSU along with other organisations Saturday carried out a protest demonstration at the Bodoland University Campus in Kokrajhar.
A memorandum was later submitted to the Governor seeking his urgent intervention.
Absu president Dipen Boro stated that despite being accused and arrested person on corruption charges by Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption and CM’s Vigilance Cell (Case no. 01/2022 U/S 120B/420/409 IPC R/W Sec. 13(a)/13(2) of PC Act, 1988), Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh continue to hold the post of Bodoland University Vice Chancellor.
“The case being under investigation by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption and CM’s Vigilance Cell (Case no. 01/2022 U/S 120B/420/409 IPC R/W Sec. 13(a)/13(2) of PC Act, 1988). Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh must be removed from the present position of Vice Chancellor of BU and be suspended immediately, it is unwise that Accused with Criminal charges under IPC and PC Act, is holding such a prestigious position at Bodoland University. So, to prevent from further corrupt practice by Prof. L.L. Singh urgent action is desired, Absu stated in the memorandum and sought Governor intervention into the issue.
