Agri scientists interacted with women farmers in Assam’s Darrang

Mangaldai : A fruitful interactions between the progressive women farmers and the agriculture scientists and senior agriculture officials marked the celebration of the National Women Farmer’s Day organised by District Agriculture Department  on Thursday here at the joined ‘Supervisory Training

Center’ of District Agriculture department. District Agriculture Officer Dr. Uddhab Deka explained the objectives and significance of celebrating the day and urged upon the participating women farmers of the district to devote their more time in taking agriculture in the scientific way and assured to extend all guidance, help and support to the interested women farmers.

Earlier Agriculture Development Officer Deba Sarma spoke details on the initiative taken up by the district agriculture department to encourage the women farmers.

Young Agriculture scientist Banasmita Barman of ‘Krishi Vigyan Kendra’ Darang in her interactive deliberation appealed to the farmers to motivate themselves for organic farming and horticulture,

not only as their means of livelihood but also to become a stake holder in production of agriculture in a scientific way. Sub Divisional Officer (Agri) Dr. Deben Kalita, Agriculture Development Officers Murchana Malakar and Bhaswati Sarma, Coordinator of Agriculture Technology Management Agency Dilruba Akhtara, media person Bhargab Kumar Das also interacted with the  participants several dozens in nos.

Successful horticulture farmer Nilima Kalita  and few other participants while sharing her practical experience   appreciated the help and cooperation of the district agriculture department. The celebration ended with a plantation programme in the campus of training center.
