Mangaldai : Deep tribute has been paid to legendary artiste late Jayanta Hazarika here at his birth place Mangaldai befitting his forty third death anniversary on Thursday. In this connection Mangaldai Sahitya Sabha organised a public function where Dipendra Narayan Konwar , a writer and the secretary of the Asom Sahitya Sabha’s Mangaldai regional office as the appointed speaker threw light on the life and the cultural journey of the musical icon of the State who survived just thirty four years. The session presided over by Prafulla Chandra Saharia was also attended by several office bearers of Mangaldai Sahitya Sabha including Prabin Saharia and Mahendra Baisya among others.
Earlier objectives of the meeting was described by Secretary of Mangaldai Sahitya Sabha Kalindra Baruah. Several local young and senior artistes including Anwesha Goswami, Samiran Baruah, Manash Deep Kashyap, Chitralekha Mazumdar, Anima Saharia and Kalindra Baruah performed their rendition on the evergreen creations of the eminent artiste. In the beginning Gautamananda Goswami, Secretary Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha lit the lamp before the portrait of Jayanta Hazarika.
