Guwahati :Co-ordinating with the Centre’s Act East Policy, Guwahati, the largest city in Northeast India, has become the gateway to Southeast Asia. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this here today. Laying the foundation stone of a new flyover connecting Malagaon with Kamakhya Gate and Pandu in Guwahati city today, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Guwahati has always been seen as the gateway to the Northeast.
The flyover costing around Rs 420.75 crore, approximately 3 km long, is targeted to complete construction within two years. Mentioning the change of Prime Minister Modi, Sonowal said that under the Prime Minister, 15 thousand km of roads have been built in the state. In the tenure of the present state government, the Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is developing rapidly in opposition to the slow pace of previous governments in all areas such as development.
He said that four new bridges will be constructed on the Brahmaputra very soon. He said, “But now through the Act East Policy we have envisaged making Guwahati the center of South East Asian connectivity. He said that this government has given priority to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making North-East India a new engine of development by attracting investment and developing infrastructure.
Sonowal said, “Ashtalakshmi of the Northeast stands at the pinnacle of changes today. It is realizing the real potential of our region under the leadership of the youth.Talking about the rich water bodies, biodiversity and beautiful rivers of the North-East, he said, “We have everything and now we need to work hard. Speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Said that the new flyover in the Maligaon area would reduce traffic congestion and facilitate.
