Guwahathi : The wife of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Neeti Deb, announced that she has decided to return her security provided by the government. She made the announcement on her Facebook page on Saturday. Announcing the verdict, Neeti Deb said that the money being spent on their security in this time of pandemic should be spent for the people of the state.Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has Y + category security. Y + security, which means that 11 to 22 personnel will be guarded by the security personnel.
However, former CPI (M) party chief Manik Sarkar, who remained the state’s chief minister for a long time, did not avail of such protection. Bhattacharya too did not take advantage of any government security and wandered around like a normal citizen. Like Panchali Bhattacharya, Neeti Deb is also a central government employee. In January this year, in response to a question in the Legislative Assembly, Biplab Deb, who is in charge of the Home Department, said that since 2018, his wife, Neeti Deb, was given two armed security personnel to protect her. As of January estimates, the monthly cost for his protection is about Rs 1.44 lakh. And now, two and a half years after the BJP came to power in Tripura, Neeti Deb announced the withdrawal of her security from the government. Meanwhile, experts say that anyone can give up security whenever they want.

In her Facebook post, Niti Deb said: “I am grateful to everyone for the affection I received from the younger ones. I feel that if I go to any room in Tripura or any village or go to roam somewhere, then I have nothing to fear, I have nothing to fear. “Because where so much love is being given to me, it means that the entire state is protecting me.I am going to take a decision today that the government security system and the government protocols provided to me by the government are giving me (surrender).” Because I feel that for some reason there should be no difference between me and the general public. .
