Assam CM took part in the ‘Kati Bihu’ in Mangaldai

Mangaldai : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday evening took part in ceremonial celebration of ‘Kati Bihu’, festival related to farming community in Mangaldai of Darrang district organised for the first time by government and the administration. Chief Minister as the chief guest in a traditional manner lit the ceremonial lamp on the occasion in the huge green sali transplanted land namely ‘Monpur Pothar’ of Bamunpara near here. Immediately after Chief Minister ceremonially lit the lamp all the paddy field was illuminated with several hundreds of traditional lamps earlier made ready. Lighting of the lamps were followed by lighting of traditional ‘Akash Banti’. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister offered Kati Bihu greetings to the farmers community of the State and highlighted the role of the present BJP led government both at the State and the Centre. Chief Minister was also accompanied by State BJP President Ranjit Dass, Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita, Mangaldai Parliamentarian and the BJP’s National General Secretary Dilip Saikia, Chairman of ATDC Jayanta Malla Baruah and both the BJP legislators of the district Gurujyoti Das and Binanda Kr Saikia among others.
