Assam EC Organises ‘Run For Vote’,“LS Contestants Mandated To Advertise Their Criminal Records”

Guwahati :State Election Commission has addressed a press conference on Monday, where the Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Sahu has officially announced the schedule and guidelines for the coming Lok Sabha polls in the state. The state election commission has made it compulsory for candidates contesting polls to advertise their criminal records in Tv and newspapers at least three times during campaigns. Political parties too will have to give publicity to the criminal records of candidates fielded by them. The new cVIGIL app launched by Election Commission of India is expected to fill in all these gaps and create a fast-track complaint reception and redressal system.

FIRST PHASE: April 11: (Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur) SECOND PHASE: April 18: (Karimganj, Silchar, Autonomous, Mangaldoi, Nagaon) THIRD PHASE: April 23: (Guwahati, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Dhubri) First phase: Last date of nomination: March 25 Scrutiny: March 26 Voting: April 11 Total voters: 75,16,284. Polling stations: 9574 Second phase: Last date of nomination: March 26 Scrutiny: March 27 Voting: April 18 Total voters: 68,36,496. Polling stations: 8992 Third phase: Last date of nomination: April 4 Scrutiny: April 5 Voting: April 23 Total voters: 7407824 Polling stations: 9577 CRITICAL POLLING STATIONS : 1913 VERY SENSITIVE POLLING STATIONS: 3663. On other hand Chief Electoral Officer, Assam Sri Mukesh Sahu flagging off Run for Vote programme organized by CEO, Assam in collaboration with Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration at Latasil Playground, Guwahati on March 11. With the Lok Sabha Elections dates declared, electoral urgency has gathered momentum. Election Commission (EC) is all geared up for the polls. In order to create awareness among voters EC had organised a run named ‘Run for Vote’. The awareness rally started from Latashil field.
