Assam Police rescues nine girls who were smuggled to Kerala for flesh trade

 GUWAHATI : Assam Police has rescued nine girls from the state who were smuggled to Kerala and two persons have been arrested in the case. This information was given by a senior official. Assam Police has rescued nine girls who were smuggled into Kerala and forced into prostitution. Two smugglers have been arrested in connection with the incident. Special Director General of Police GP Singh said that the rescued girls and accused are being brought back to Assam.

 Singh tweeted, “Hojai police had received information that a gang operating in human trafficking was operating in Assam, which has smuggled several girls from different districts of Assam to Thampanur in Kerala. He said that on the basis of strong information, an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Lanka police station in Hojai district on July 11 and on July 13, a team of eight police personnel was sent to Kerala to rescue the victims and nab the accused.He said the girls rescued from the clutches of smugglers are from Hojai, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Morigaon and Kamrup rural districts while the accused are residents of Hojai and Nagaon districts.
