SPECIAL TRAINS, ADDITIONAL STOPPAGE, RESCHEDULING, PLATFORM ARRANGEMENTS & GUIDELINES FOR PILGRIM PASSENGERS

Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway, has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of passengers during the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple Pongala Mahotsavam 2025. To ensure safe and smooth movement of passengers at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station, several measures have been implemented, including designated platforms, special train services, additional stoppages, enhanced ticketing facilities, and increased security arrangements.

On Pongala Day, 13th March 2025, passenger movement at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station will be streamlined. Trains towards Nagercoil will depart from Platform Number 1, while trains towards Kollam will depart from Platforms 2, 3, 4, and 5. The second entry point at Power House Road will be opened. This will be exclusively for passenger entry. The Foot Over Bridge (FOB) connecting the second entry will be designated one-way, allowing only entry to the platforms. The other two FOBs will facilitate movement between platforms and for exit.

For the convenience of passengers, additional train services will be operated between Ernakulam Junction & Thiruvananthapuram Central and between Thiruvananthapuram Central & Nagercoil Junction. Thirty one trains, will have additional stoppages for the convenience of pilgrim passengers. The additional stoppage especially for Vande Bharat Express at Thiruvananthapuram North and the Janshatabdi Express at Thiruvananthapuram Pettah will be beneficial for pilgrim passengers.

To facilitate easy ticketing, additional ticket counters will be operated at entry and exit points, and Unreserved Ticketing and UTS on Mobile QR Code Counters will be facilitated on platforms at Thiruvananthapuram Central. Given the high passenger turnout, parking space at the station will be limited, and those travelling are requested to plan accordingly.

Security has been strengthened with enhanced crowd control measures and streamlined platforms for passenger movement. The Railway Protection Force (RPF), in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), local police and other authorities, will be actively monitoring and managing security. Special teams of medical, commercial, and security personnel will be stationed at key locations for immediate support and assistance to pilgrims to ensure a hassle-free journey..

Important Safety Guidelines for Pilgrim Passengers:

  • Pongala hearths are strictly not allowed inside railway premises for safety reasons.
  • Sitting or lying down on platforms and Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) is prohibited to avoid accidents.
  • Crossing railway tracks is strictly forbidden—passengers must use FOBs to move between platforms.
  • Passengers must follow instructions from RPF, Police, and Railway Officials to ensure safe and smooth movement.

ADDITIONAL STOPPAGE

  1. Train No. 20631 Mangaluru Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central Vande Bharath Express leaving Mangaluru Central on 13th March, 2025 will be provided additional stoppage at Thiruvananthapuram North Railway Station(Arrival 14.24 hrs./14.25 hrs.).
