Biden visits Poland to show solidarity to eastern European nations

Washington: US President Joe Biden visited the Polish town of Rzeszów, about an hour’s drive from the Ukrainian border, in a symbolic show of support for eastern European states that are witnessing Russian military operation in their neighbourhood.

During the visit, the American leader met US troops bolstering Nato’s eastern flank and got a first-hand look at international efforts to help the over two million Ukrainian refugees who have found temporary shelter in Poland from war in their country. He also met with humanitarian experts on the ground and expressed support for Poland’s efforts in helping Ukrainian refugees.

At a cafeteria at Rzeszów which is about 170 km from Ukrainian city of Lviv, President Biden joined the US service members eating pizza lunch at six long tables.

The US President will be in Warsaw today for further talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda and others
