Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary and Shri Jayant Chaudhary, MoS (I/C), MSDE Announce Permanent Campus of NSTI (Women), Patna
New Delhi : In a major boost to women’s skill development and global employment opportunities for Bihar’s youth, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, and Shri Samrat Choudhary, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, today announced the establishment of the permanent campus of the National Skill Training Institute for Women, NSTI (W), Patna and Skill India International, Patna.
The foundation stone for the permanent campus of NSTI (Women), Patna was laid at the project site by Shri Dilip Kumar, Director General, Directorate General of Training (DGT). On the occasion, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the Government of Bihar also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a Skill India International Centre (SIIC) in Bihar.
Together, the two initiatives will strengthen advanced vocational training for women and create structured pathways for Bihar’s youth to access international employment opportunities.
The permanent campus of NSTI (W), Patna, will be developed at Bihta with an investment of ₹99.97 crore. The campus will include a modern Administrative Block, Academic Block and Girls’ Hostel, enabling the institute to substantially expand its training capacity and introduce industry-aligned and future-ready courses.
The proposed Skill India International Centre, supported by a capital investment of approximately ₹7 crore from the Government of India, will prepare Bihar’s youth for global careers through foreign-language training, international employment counselling, certification guidance, pre-departure orientation and safe-migration support.
Shri Samrat Choudhary, Hon’ble Chief Minister said, “The foundation stone laying of the National Skill Training Institute for Women, NSTI (W), at Sikandarpur, Bihta, and the exchange of the MoU between the Government of India and the Government of Bihar for establishing the Skill India International Centre mark an important step in strengthening Bihar’s skilling ecosystem. To be developed at a cost of approximately ₹99.97 crore, the modern NSTI (W) campus will provide young women with quality, industry-aligned training and prepare them for emerging employment opportunities. The Skill India International Centre will similarly equip Bihar’s youth with internationally benchmarked skills and open new pathways to employment in India and overseas. Together, these initiatives will connect our youth with skills, self-reliance and global opportunities, while giving fresh momentum to our shared vision of a Samriddh Bihar and a Viksit Bharat.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jayant Chaudhary said, “Women-led development is central to India’s growth story. The permanent campus of NSTI (W), Patna, reflects our commitment to providing women with access to modern infrastructure, industry-relevant skills and new opportunities. The Skill India International Centre will complement this effort by preparing Bihar’s youth for international careers through globally aligned training, language skills and safe-migration support. Together, these initiatives will strengthen Bihar’s workforce and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat.”
NSTI (W), Patna, is the only Central Government skill training institute exclusively for women in Bihar. The institute was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime, Shri Narendra Modi, has been operating from a temporary campus and offers long-term training under the Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) and Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS).
The institute from its temporary campus has offered training in Electronics Mechanic, Fashion Design and Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Cosmetology. It has also trained women under initiatives including PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, NIESBUD-led programmes, DGR-EDP, STRIVE and other skill development programmes.
Once operational, the permanent campus will serve as a premier centre for women’s skill development in Bihar and neighbouring States. It will offer modern laboratories, improved residential facilities and industry-aligned training to prepare women for employment, entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities in a rapidly changing economy.
Based on the recommendations of the Trade Selection Committee constituted by DGT, the institute proposes to offer 13 trades under CITS and CTS. These will include conventional and women-centric trades alongside emerging areas such as AI and Programming Assistant, Drone Technician, Solar Technician and Radiology Technician. The proposed courses will provide a total annual training capacity of 435 trainees.
The Skill India International Centre will serve as a dedicated gateway for Bihar’s youth seeking overseas employment. It will offer training in languages such as English, German, Japanese and French, along with international placement counselling, certification assistance and migration support.
The Centre will also provide industry-aligned training in high-demand sectors such as electrical services, plumbing, construction, agriculture and other emerging trades. The training will be aligned with international occupational standards and the workforce requirements of destination countries.
