Bodoland Martyrs day observed

Kokrajhar: The 34th Bodoland Martyrs day was observed  on Saturday in memory of the first martyrs of Bodoland movement Sujit Narzary and other martyrs’ who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Bodoland.

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration observed the day at Bodoland Martyrs’ Cemetery at Debargaon in Kokrajhar district. Floral tributes were paid in memory of the Bodoland martyrs. Assam Handloom & Textile, Soil Conservation, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (BTC) Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTC executive emember ranjit basumatary, MLAs Lawrence Islary, Jayanta Basumatary and others participated in the programme and paid floral tributes.

The ABSU observed the day Sujit Narzary’s martyr tomb at at Bathipara in Kokrajhar district. As per the program, floral tributes were paid.  Late Narzary’s father Mangalsingh Narzary, ABSU president Dipen Boro, cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary and others attended and paid floral tributes.

Recalling the supreme sacrifice of Sujit Narzary and other martyrs of Bodoland movement, minister Urkha Gwra Brahma stressed the need of building a strong society free from violence, drugs and other anti-social activities for a strong and secured society.

ABSU president Dipen Boro said  late Sujit Narzary is an inspiration for the society who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the community.
