Book on the life and works of Sanskrit scholar, ideal teacher released

MANGALDAI :: “Ratnakanti” , a book on the illustrious life , philosophy and works of Late Ratneswar Sarma Baruah, an ideal retired teacher of Mangaldai Govt Higher Secondary School, a Sanskrit scholar and a philanthropist has been released in connection with his first death anniversary. In this connection a book release function was organized here at his Bamunpara residence in the afternoon of February 13 last where Dr Dilip Kumar Sarma , an eminent mathematician, writer and a retired professor of Cotton State University, Guwahati released the book. Speaking on the occasion Dr Sarma explained how such books can enrich the literary resources enlightening the manifold personalities of the person concerned and also many untold but important stories of the contemporary socio, economic and cultural happenings of that locality. ” Souvenirs and such type of books published to pay tribute to someone can be a source of valuable information on the hidden history, tradition facts etc of a particular locality in that period and also about different writing skills of various under exposed writers for the interested youths and researchers.” , he added. He hoped that the book , published by Rukmini Devi , wife of Late Sarma Baruah with contribution from nearly one hundred writers would help the younger generation to explore Late Sarma Baruah in real form . The function presided over by retired professor of Mangaldai College Dr Pranab Kumar Sarma was inaugurated by Dr Bijay Kumar Sarma , an Associate Professor of Srimanta Sankardeva university, Nagaon. The function ended with the vote of thanks by Rekha Sarma, daughter in law of Late Sarma Baruah also witnessed speech by veteran academician Jiban Chandra Sarma, Sailendra Kumar Sahariah, Kamal Prasad Sarma , Binay Kumar Sarma , Nripendra Kumar Baruah and others who recalled their memorable association with Late Sarma Baruah. Earlier the objectives of the function was explained by Akhil Ranjan Bhatta, the editor of the book following offering of floral tribute on the portrait of the deceased and presentation of the ” Mangala Charan” by veteran Sanskrit pundit Tarun Chandra Sarma
