Boro Diaspora Forum letter to CM, calls for strengthening of BTC

Kokrajhar: The Boro Diaspora Forum (BDF) calls upon the new government in Assam for implementation of strengthening of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration in accordance with the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, Protection of Land Rights of Boro and other indigenous tribal people of the state by strict implementation of provisions of tribal belts and block guideline i.e. as laid down under Chapter X of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act,1886 and Implementation of the third Boro Peace Accord signed on 27th January, 2020 among other various issues.

In a press release, the Boro Diaspora Forum stated that vide its letter dt 14th May 20121 conveyed congratulations to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the new Chief Minister of Assam and his colleagues on their  forming new Government in Assam.

The forum in its letter highlighted many points for implementation including Strengthening of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration in accordance with the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, Protection of Land Rights of Boro and other indigenous tribal people of the state by strict implementation of provisions of tribal belts and block guideline i.e. as laid down under Chapter X of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act,1886, Settlement of thousands of Boros and other tribals residing in the erstwhile Reserve Forests in the State, and Implementation of the third Boro Peace Accord signed on 27th January, 2020 in letter and spirit.

It also wants Honourable and practical rehabilitation to former members of all factions of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) who laid down their arms and signed the third Boro Peace Accord on the 27th January 2020 to bring peace and development in the State, and Meaningful recognition of the aspirations of the Boro people as regards their culture and identity.

The forum expressed their trust and hope that under the leadership of the Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma peace, stability and all round development of all communities living in the State would scale newer heights.
