Jaipur: Borosil Ltd., India’s leading glassware brand, established a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Jaipur, home to the country’s first-ever Borosilicate Glass Furnace. This facility is a significant milestone in Borosil’s mission to meet the growing demand for high-quality glassware tailored to the needs of Indian consumers while supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The new plant is designed to manufacture a diverse range of Borosilicate and Opal glass products, including tableware, storage solutions, bakeware, and serving items. With a production capacity of 9,125 metric tons of Borosilicate glass and 30,660 metric tons of Opal glass per annum, the facility reinforces Borosil’s leadership in the Indian market. This factory will enable Borosil to reduce its dependence on imports and offer products that are specifically designed for Indian households—products that are stronger, break-resistant, and better suited to the country’s diverse needs.
The Jaipur facility is central to Borosil’s commitment to self-reliance. As part of its expansion, Borosil is focused on producing locally, ensuring that the company can cater to the growing domestic demand while reducing dependency on foreign suppliers. Beyond its production capabilities, the Jaipur plant also serves as a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the region. Providing direct and indirect employment to over 2,000 individuals, the facility emphasizes inclusion, with more than 25% of the workforce being women from nearby villages. Borosil is committed to creating a secure and empowering workplace for these women, offering them opportunities to contribute to their families while fostering an inclusive work culture.
Mr. Shreevar Kheruka, Managing Director of Borosil Ltd., said: “Our Jaipur facility marks a significant leap toward self-reliance in the glassware industry. It enables us to manufacture high-quality products that are both resilient and tailored to the needs of Indian households. This factory strengthens our position as a force multiplier for Indian women, providing them with meaningful employment opportunities. With this new facility, we are poised to meet the increasing domestic demand.”
While the focus remains on product innovation and self-reliance, the Jaipur facility also reflects Borosil’s commitment to sustainability. The factory integrates green energy solutions, including a 1 MWp rooftop solar plant and two solar parks in Gajner, Bikaner, generating 8.6 MWp and 7.2 MWp of solar power. This eco-conscious approach complements the company’s long-term strategy of minimizing its environmental footprint while continuing to offer 100% recyclable glass products.
