Kokrajhar: Huge consignment of arms and ammunition were recovered from Khagrabari village under Runikhata police station in Assam’s Chirang district by police Tuesday.
The recoveries includes one (1) Factory made HK series rifle along with one magazine, one AK Series rifle with two magazines, one Uzi type factory made firearm having two magazines, two factory made pistols with magazines, two nos Chinese Hand Grenades, 93 round live ammunition of AK Series, 25 nos live ammunitions of 5.56 mm rifles and other incriminating materials.
According to police, based on specific input, a search operation was conducted at Khagrabari village under Runikhata Police station and recovered the arms and ammunition which were kept concealed inside the ground and accordingly seized.
Similar recoveries were made from two different locations in Kokrajhar district on Sunday and from Udalguri on Thursday last.
On 16 August Kokrajhar Police recovered one MMG, 5 AK 56 rifles, 4 magazines of AK56, 244 rounds ammunition of AK56,one INSAS rifle along with magazine and 23 rounds ammunition, three 9 mm pistol, 5 magazine of 9 mm pistols, 6 rounds ammunition of 9 mm pistol, One .22 Chinese gun, two magazine and 5 rounds ammunition, one No. 36 hand grenade and One MMG chain from Katlibil jungle area under Saraibil Border outpost under Gossaigaon Police Station and Belguri jungle area under Serfanguri Police Station. Before that on 13 August, two AK-47 rifles, five AK-56 rifles, two M-16 rifles, seven 9mm pistols, 12 grenades, over 1,250 rounds of ammunition, an air gun and around 20kg of explosives were seized from Udalguri district.
