CBI arrests three persons including North East Frontier Railway officer for bribe

GUWAHATI : The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested 3 persons, including a senior Indian Railway Engineering Service officer, for taking bribes worth 1 crore. With this, the investigating agency has conducted raids at a total of 40 locations in India including Delhi, Assam, Uttarakhand and two other states to gather more evidence in the case. The official source said, the CBI today apprehended mahendra Singh Chouhan, a senior railway engineering service officer of 1985 batch, along with two others in an alleged bribery case worth one crore rupees.

In addition, the two people who have been arrested were taking bribes in the name of Mahendra Chauhan. According to reports, Mahendra was seeking a bribe of 1 crore from a company to get work in the North Eastern Railway. Thereafter, on receipt of the information, it was planned to be zero. And at the same time, Mahendra’s two companions were taking bribes, and the CBI grabbed him with a red hand. The CBI has also expressed the possibility of taking bribes in other cases at Mahendra. Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate has arrested Chinese-origin nationals Charlie Peng and Carter Lee in a money laundering case and taken on a 14-day remand. Charlie Peng is accused of money laundering through hawala business of Rs 1000 crore.
