Central team to take stock of crop damage in Maharashtra

A team of Central Government officials is on a three-day visit to Maharashtra from today to take stock of crop damage situation due to unseasonal rainfall. The team led by Director of Department of Agricultural and Farmers’ Welfare Dr. R. P. Singh has reached Amravati this morning. It is going to visit the affected areas in Nagpur and Amravati Division of Vidarbha region.

Inter-Ministerial Central team’s Member are on three- day visit of Nagpur and Amravati Division of Vidarbha region to take on-spot assessment of agrarian crisis due to the unseasonal rains and cyclone ‘Kyar’ in the month of October.

 The central team under the leadership of Dr R.P. Singh, Director, Directorate of Cotton development Nagpur is visiting Amravati district today.

In Amravati Division, the team will visit Akola, Buldhana and Washim districts of Eastern Vidarbha which are mainly affected. Nagpur-leg of the tour will be on 25th November in which team will inspect affected areas of  Chandrapur and Nagpur district.

The inspection will be followed by the review meeting with District Administration and agricultural officials.

The State Government has already approved the allocation of about 47 crores Rupees for affected areas in Nagpur division and 43 crores Rupees for Amravati division as relief fund.  

The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) consists of members from National Disaster management authority, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Agriculture.

The team is divided into three groups to take assessment of affected areas in regions of Maharashtra.
