Central team to take stock of crop damage in Maharashtra

A team of Central Government officials will be on a three-day visit to Maharashtra to take stock of crop damage situation due to unseasonal rainfall.

The team led by Director of Department of Agricultural and Farmers’ Welfare Dr. R. P. Singh will visit the affected areas in Nagpur and Amravati Division of Vidarbha region from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Nagpur District administration has received the first instalment of 13 crore rupees for distribution of aid to affected farmers.

District Collector Ravindra Thakre told media persons today that 1,19,335 farmers in the district were affected due to the natural calamity during the last month and various crops over 54,202 hectares in Nagpur district were severely damaged due to the unseasonal rain.
