Government today said that the Mullaperiyar Dam situated in Idukki District of Kerala is safe in all aspects. Minister for Jal Shakthi, Gajendra Singh Shekawat disclosed this while answering a question raised by the Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha.
Mr Shekawat said, the three member Supervisory Committee visited Mullaperiyar dam site on 4th June this year. He said, after discussions on various dam related matters they found that the dam is safe in all aspects. The Minister said, the dam is being inspected pre-monsoon and post-monsoon to ascertain the safety of the dam as per the laid down safety measures.
