Check illegal flow of money- directs poll expenditure observers in Assam’s Darrang district

Mangaldai : Poll expenditure observers Vinay Kumar Kantheti and Harsh Vardhan Umre for the four assembly segments under Mangaldai Election District who have been camping here since March 5 last held a meeting with the officials of the different cells formed for smooth conduct of the polls on March 6 . The expenditure observers while stressing the need of checking the illegal consignment monetary transactions during this critical period poll bound time to ensure free and fair polls in the district.
They said that the muscle power used in polls earlier, now is replaced by money power . They cited several relevant examples in this connection while sharing their past experiences . They instructed the officials especially of the flying squads to remain alert and vigil all the time . The meeting held in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall was attended by all the senior officials of the district engaged in the poll process including District Returning Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Dilip Kumar Borah and Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan among others.
This has been stated in an official release issued on March 6 evening. It may be mentioned here that Kantheti and Umre both officers from the Indian Revenue Service have been appointed as the poll expenditure observers for the four assembly segments of the election district . Accordingly Kantheti has been in charge of Kalaigaon and Dalgaon assembly constituencies where as Umre is for the other two constituencies i.e.Mangaldai and Sipajhar respectively. They had arrived in Mangaldai on March 5 and camping in the new circuit house . The poll observers have already appealed to the local public to directly contact them physically or over phone for any poll expenditure related complaints.
