Closing ceremony titled Participation of Students in Conservation of Cultural Resources in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR : The closing ceremony on “Participation of Students in Cultural Resource Conservation” held at the initiative of Directorate of Archaeology, Government of Assam and in collaboration with the District Administration was held at Sivasagar Yuva Dal Auditorium today.

The chief guest on the occasion was Yogen Mahan, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Assam. In the context of his speech Minister Mahan said that studying the historical resources of Sivasagar has a lot of importance and that by enhancing the beauty of these resources, domestic and foreign tourists can be attracted. Such a process can be used to declare world heritage sites covering Sivasagar and Charaideo in the coming days.MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi said in the context of his address to the students that we have a lot to do to attract tourists in Sivasagar district and urged the new generation to encourage the youth towards the tourism industry.

MLA Dharmeshwar Konwar also mentioned in the context of the speech a comprehensive explanation of the monuments and Ahom history scattered across Sivasagar and Charaideo districts. Director of Directorate of Archaeology Deepi Rekha Kuli delivered the inaugural address of today’s event. Sivasagar district collector Aditya Vikram Yadav on the other hand urged the students to embrace tourism as a career and exchange views with the students about their travel experiences.Principal of Sivasagar Commerce College Dr. Soumarjyoti Mahanta and Principal of Gurgaon College Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta also addressed the students at the valedictory function. At the end of the event the students were given prizes for the competition held between them.
