 Five drug mafia including two Bangladeshi smugglers arrested

 Guwahati: As per the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the police are taking action against drugs in the entire northeastern states, including Assam. In this action, in the last 12 hours, the Northeast States Police has seized more than 60 crore heroines and drugs in different incidents. and five drug mafias, including two Bangladeshi smugglers, have been arrested. A huge quantity of heroin was seized on October 18 amid the ongoing drug seizure in Assam and northeast police. In Karimganj district, an investment of Rs 20 crore has been made in the state of Assam.

Acting on an intelligence input, police seized a total of 2.5 kg heroin during a police operation brought to Assam from Mizoram. Police have recovered drugs numbered ML 05 x 1215 from the Mahindra Thar vehicle. The drugs were packed in 194 soap boxes. Police have also arrested two persons, Jabrul Haque and Rijal Uddin Talukdar, in connection with the case. According to police, the recovered heroin is said to be worth around Rs 20 crore in the market.

The Mizoram Police on October 18 seized 30 soap cases filled with 422 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.11 crore in champhai district of the state. During a surprise check on the outskirts of Chhungate village, police seized drugs from a vehicle. Police arrested two persons named Khavampuithanga (32) and Lalrinmuana (25) in this connection and also seized the vehicle. Police have registered a case under Section 21(C)/29/25 NDNDPS and started investigating the matter. However, in a successful operation against drug smugglers, the Aizawl battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered around 92,550 methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 30 crore in the Falkland area of Aizawl.Acting on a specific input, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles, 19 FIT DGAR FIU and Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl. A joint team of Aizawl battalion, 19Fit DGAR FIU, along with excise and narcotics department, had launched a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) at Falkland Weng on October 18. The team noticed the movement of the suspicious vehicle around 8 pm and the vehicle was stopped and a thorough check was conducted on the spot. During investigation, it was found that a person was carrying 92,550 tablets of methamphetamine.

The entire consignment of methamphetamine tablets was seized and the man was taken into custody by the joint team. The recovered methamphetamine tablet is estimated to be priced at Rs 30,84,99,691. The seized items and the detained person were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl, Mizoram on the evening of October 18 for further investigation and legal proceedings. On the other hand, in another battle against drugs, Agartala police arrested three drug dealers with brown sugar in the capital in two separate incidents, besides arresting two Bangladeshi nationals living here without valid documents. Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar sub-division, Ajay Kumar Das, who led both the operations on October 17, informed that the first operation was carried out jointly by West Agartala police station with posts in Ramanagara and Battala town. The team arrested two drug peddlers Bhati Kudduch Mian of Abhaynagar and Maman Mian of Rajnagar and seized brown sugar from their possession. Again, two Bangladeshi nationals were detained from Battala area who could not provide any valid documents of their entry into Indian territory and have been identified as Kamruzz Zaman and Hafiz Sardar.
