CM Shri Chouhan addresses urban develpment programme under Jankalyan and Suraaj Abhiyan

Bhopal :Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that cleanliness and order in cities is essential, but above all proper arrangement for livelihood of poor is must. Industries should be established in the cities, but along with this, there should be proper arrangements for the handcarts as well. In the planning of cities, it is necessary to earmark a place for small businessmen and handcart owners.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing a programme organized for the virtual dedication of 69 development works done in 24 cities of the state at a cost of Rs. 1056 crores at Minto Hall by the Urban Development and Housing Department. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan distributed Rs 299.40 crore of 15th Finance Commission to 402 urban bodies with a single click in the programme. The dedicated works include sewerage project, drinking water scheme, bus stand development, commercial complex, development of gardens, traffic management, library, school building, solar energy and housing complex built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Urban bodies will use the grant released under the 15th Finance Commission on sanitation, solid waste management, drinking water supply, and water conservation.

Virtually connected with 407 urban body program

The programme started with Kanya Pujan and Madhya Pradesh Song. Union Minister of State for Steel Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Finance Minister Shri Jagdish Deora, Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Shri Omprakash Sakhlecha, MLA Smt. Krishna Gaur, Principal Secretary Urban Development Shri Manish Singh was present in the programme. All 407 urban bodies of the state joined the programme virtually. Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh gave information regarding departmental activities and future plans.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that schemes like Swachh Bharat, Smart City, Amrit Yojana, PM Awas and PM Svanidhi have given new dimensions and new pace to urban development. It is the responsibility of all of us to build the India of the dreams of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The positive results of the implementation of urban development plans in the state are now surfacing.

More than 30 percent of states’s population now in urban areas

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the size of cities is constantly on the rise. More than 30 percent population of the state is now living in urban areas, this number will increase further. We are committed to free cities from dirt, pollution, disease, crime and mafia. Cleanliness is the top priority in the urban areas. Madhya Pradesh is the best state in terms of cleanliness. The state has jumped one place higher to get the third position in the country in the cleanliness survey 2020. Indore city has been ranked as the cleanest city for the fourth time. Bhopal is the cleanest self-sustainable capital of the country. Madhya Pradesh has received 11 awards at the national level in the Smart City Mission. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, 296 bodies of the state have come under ODF Plus. Indore has got the distinction of being the first water plus city of the country. In more than 300 cities, 100 percent waste segregation, transportation and processing and 75 percent solid waste recycling is being done at source itself.

Houses will be built for the poor on the land freed from mafia

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that housing is a big need for every person. We have resolved that every effort will be made to ensure slum-free cities. The state government is constantly working in this direction so that every person has his own shelter. The houses of the poor will be built on the lands that have been freed from the mafia.

Roads dug for sewage or water supply work should be repaired immediately

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the nature of cities has changed due to efforts made in the last 15 years. Systematic water supply projects have been completed in cities. The sewerage system has been developed and made functional. About 58 thousand houses have been built for the urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Arrangements have been made for night shelters and Deendayal Rasoi Yojana in cities. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed the officers to ensure that repair work of roads should be speeded up in the cities where roads are being dug in connection with the sewage or water supply work.

Building permit now in 15 days

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the number of buses has been increased so as to promote public transport in cities. All the civic services being provided by the urban bodies have been made online. The time limit for online building permit has been reduced from 30 days to 15 days. An amendment has also been passed regarding compounding.

Strict action will be taken against builders who do not provide basic facilities

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that with a view to providing relief to the common citizens, arrangements have been made to regularize all illegal colonies. Strict action will be taken against the existing colonies and builders who will not provide basic facilities in future colonies. Necessary amendments have been made as per the instructions of the Government of India in property tax and water cess.

CM Shri Chouhan interacts with beneficiaries

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan interacted virtually with the beneficiaries related to the dedicated development works. He spoke to Smt. Gayatri Bhagore and Smt. Meena Ahirwar, both beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Indore. Similarly, he also spoke to Smt. Usha Dor, in-charge of Nutan School Complex constructed by Ujjain Smart City at a cost of Rs 35 crores, and Shri Ravi Namdev parent of a student studying there. In Burhanpur, he discussed matters regarding urban development works with former Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis, former Mayor Shri Anil Bhosle and former Municipal Corporation Chairman Shri Manoj Tarwala regarding the works of urban development in Burhanpur. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that we will continue to work to bring happiness in the lives of the common people. There will be no slowdown in the pace of development even in the event of an economic crisis.

CM Shri Chouhan appeals people to remain aware of Corona and Dengue

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that despite the difficult circumstances of Corona, urban development activities have not been allowed to be affected. Corona is under control, but still some cases are being reported in the state. Hence constant vigilance is must. The root cause of dengue spreading recently is sanitation and water logging. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan appealed to the people of the state to continuously follow the measures to prevent dengue.

Vaccination campaign on September 27

While persuading people of the state to get vaccinated, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that 85 percent of the urban population of the state had received the first dose of the vaccine. The Vaccination Maha Abhiyan is being organized again on 27 September. Those who have not yet been vaccinated should get themselves vaccinated compulsorily and ensure that their relatives and acquaintances are also vaccinated.
