Aneesh Rajan, Customs joint commissioner, who unearthed the Gold smuggling scam at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, got transferred to Nagpur. Customs officers protesting via various what’s app groups regarding the same. It is alleged that some BJP leaders and Congress leaders were unhappy in Aneesh Rajan’s statements regarding the scam.
BJP alleged that Chief Minister’s office had intervened to relieve the gold smuggling scam accused. The same was denied by Aneesh Rajan strongly. Meanwhile some BJP workers pointed out that Aneesh’s brother is an active CPIM worker. The BJP ruling central government issued a transfer order to Aneesh and directed him to join at Nagpur office before 10th of August 2020
“we are becoming the puppets in the hands of politics” one of the message appeared in a whats app group. “Aneesh Rajan was very sincere and asset to the department. The transfer of Aneesh is not justifiable” – another senior officer wrote
The investigation team headed by Aneesh Rajan locked all the 14 accused in the scam. He had received world customs organization award for best performance. During the send off ceremony, the colleagues appreciated his performances in career. Aneesh is a 2008 batch officer of customs.
