Dhalpur-Garukhuti settler families likely to get one bigha of government land each in Dalgaon.

MANGALDAI : The state government is likely to settle a large section of the eviction affected families of Dhalpur-Garukhuti under Sipajhar revenue circle in Dalgaon area . Sources in the Darrang district administration who don’t want to be quoted have informed that a plan has been made to shift altogether 2051 families who were either evicted or yet to evicted from the Garukhuti agricultural project area for relocating them in some vacant char areas under Dalgaon LAC . In this regard a meeting was held on January 31 last in the PWD inspection bungalow at Kharupetia where senior administrative officials including Deputy Commissioner , Darrang, Pranab Kumar Sarmah , Superintendent of Police Sushanta Biswa Sarma and Dalgaon Legislator Mazibur Rahman were present .

 On the basis of the decision of the meeting all the 2051 families who were encroaching government land of the Garukhuti project area will be shifted to the vacant 2051 bighas of land at Armari , Shyampur areas under Dalgaon revenue circle . Out of these total 2051 families 633 families will be shifted on priority basis in the first phase . Among them 423 families staying in Niz-Salmara (part) and No1 Dhalpur (part) will be relocated initially and 210 families who had already left the area voluntarily and living in the south bank of the stream of the Brahmaputra will be shifted in the second phase. The rest of the families will be shifted in the subsequent manner . Meanwhile on being asked from ANN Deputy Commissioner , Pranab Kumar Sarmah on February 9 has ruled out final decision being taken in this regard . “ The process has been started , but the decision is yet to taken yet,” he reiterated .
