Educational Policy: Assam govt to provide Scooty to 22,000 meritorious girls

GUWAHATI : Assam Finance and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today that every girl who scored first class marks during the state government-run Class 12 examinations will be given a scooter under the state government’s scheme. 22,000 girl students had secured first class marks in the Higher Secondary Examination and now we will give each of them a scooter so that they can travel to their respective colleges ”, said Himanta Biswa Sarma.According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the cost of each scooty given to meritorious girl students will be around Rs 50,000-55,000. Sarma further said that scooty will be given to the girl students by October 15. On the other hand, the Assam government has made preliminary plans to reopen educational institutions on 1 September, but the final decision will depend on the instructions of the Center. State Information Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information on today.Apart from this, he said that all teachers and staff of schools will have to test themselves. We have prepared a preliminary plan to reopen the schools, but this decision may still change after further discussion with parents and others concerned. It will be implemented only as per Central Government directives. He said that schools would be closed for students from class 4 till the end of September. School games would be organized for students of classes 5 to 8. He said that the classes would be divided into classes of 15 students and only these students could attend classes at once. Students in classes 9th and 11th will attend classes two days a week, with 15 students attending at once. People in class 10th and 12th will attend classes four days a week. The minister said that only 15 students would be present in the class at a time and classes would be held only for three hours. He said that the students coming on time of the day will try to ensure social distance. At the degree level, classes will be held only for the last semester. For postgraduate students, universities will decide. Sarma said that all these proposals will be put on the education department website and people will be called to give their suggestions by 20 August.
