Bhopal: Showing the love for sports, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has resolved to make continuous efforts for the development of sports in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed about his resolve in an interaction with the office bearers of various sports organisations on Tuesday. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that the sports budget has been increased manifold in Madhya Pradesh after the year 2005. Formation of sports academies for the development of various sports, facilities of nutritional diet to the players, good sports infrastructure were made available and prepared for national and international sports events. It is the result of this that today in Tokyo Olympics, players trained from Madhya Pradesh Women’s Hockey Academy represented in the Indian team. This team may not have been able to earn any medal, but by coming fourth in the world, it has presented a proof of its superiority. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, while talking with the functionaries of Indian Olympic Association, Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association and Hockey India, said that a world-class sports stadium would also be constructed in Madhya Pradesh soon, which will enhance sports and sports persons.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that daughters participate in various sports. They will be specially encouraged. Just as the Madhya Pradesh government had set an example by providing financial assistance to the Indian women’s hockey team in the year 2010, in the same sequence, this year’s Olympic performance attracted the attention of the entire world. The players of the Indian women’s hockey team of Tokyo Olympics were felicilated and honoured with a cheque of Rs 31 lakh each. This sequence of encouragement is not going to stop.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has also urged all the sports organisations to join the efforts of the State Government for the improvement of sports infrastructure training and sports facilities. The Department of Sports and Youth Welfare has started a campaign to find talent in various sports under the Talent Search, which will yield very good results soon. The State Government has also taken necessary steps for the development of other sports including State Sports Malkhamb.
