Kokrajhar: The Returning Officer (RO) of 5- Kokrajhar (ST) HP constituency has issued election notification for the Constituency today.
The notice mentioned that nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his/her proposers to the Returning Officer Partha Pratim Mazumdar or to Assistant Returning Officer Sanjeev Kr. Sharma at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar between 11 AM and 3 PM on any day (other than public holidays) not later than the April 4.
The nomination forms can be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar and the nomination papers will be taken for scrutiny at 11AM of April 5 at the said office as well.
It is also informed that notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his/her proposers or by his/her election agent who has been authorised by the candidate at the office of the Returning Officer, 5- Kokrajhar (ST) Parliamentary Constituency before 3 PM of April 8. It further notified that the poll will take place on April 23 between 7 AM and 5 PM.
The Returning Officer, 5- Kokrajhar (ST) HPC and Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Partha Pratim Mazumdar also held an elaborate meeting with political parties and election related officials. The meeting was attended by the representatives of registered central and state political parties like Congress (I), CPI (M), BJP and BPF.
The Returning Officer cum Deputy Commissioner briefed on the Model Code of Conduct, Election Expenditure Monitoring mechanism, nomination process and new facilities introduced by the Election Commission of India for voters like Suvidha, cVisil, 24×7 telephone service for complain related matters and toll free number 1950. He advised all parties to follow the rules and guidelines laid down by the ECI and appealed to all political parties to maintain peace and communal harmony during and after the elections in the district.
The Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner also advised all political parties to have a knowledge of the processes, required paperwork to be filed, restrictions etc. during the elections, so that they don’t face any hurdles and difficulties.
In the meeting, Kokrajhar Election Officer informed that there were about 1,80,947 voters in 30- Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC and they will cast their votes in 245 polling stations at 157 locations.
Meanwhile 10 aspirants have taken nomination papers today.
