Election violence in Manipur, two BJP leaders, security guard shot dead; In Manipur and Goa, JD(U) goes alone

GUWAHATI : The Election Commission has announced election dates and violence has started in Manipur ahead of the elections. In Manipur, a BJP leader and a security guard were allegedly shot dead late on Sunday night. The police official said that at least two BJP leaders have been allegedly shot dead in Manipur recently, which is suspected to be an incident of pre-poll violence. Two deceased BJP workers -Abujam John and Abujam Tomba are said to be close to Manipur Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi.

In Manipur, two BJP workers were shot dead by miscreants at Samru in Imphal West district at night. The Samru region falls under The Wangoi assembly constituency from where the Manipur Agriculture Minister is the sitting MLA. While 59-year-old Abujam John died on the spot, Abujam Tomba succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that his government will not remain silent to nab the culprits involved in the firing incident on Monday. A BJP leader and an IRBN security personnel lost their lives after miscreants opened fire on them on Sunday night.

 Manipur CM Biren Singh met the families of the victims in Samu area of Imphal West district this morning. Expressing grief over the passing away of BJP workers and security personnel, Biren Singh said, “Our government will not spare those involved in crime. On the other hand, JD(U) will field candidates on its own in manipur and goa assembly elections. Jd(U) National President Lalan Singh, National General Secretary KC Tyagi, party MPs Harivansh and Aarti Mandal have visited Manipur today. The number of seats and names of candidates will be decided tomorrow on the advice of a party.Talking about manipur elections, party National General Secretary Kc Tyagi today said manipur has been ruled by the Samata Party in the past.

 Last time also, the party has made a lot of preparations to contest here. Party leader Union Minister RCP Singh has been asked to hold talks with bjp on JD(U) candidature in UP assembly elections. National General Secretary Kc Tyagi said that the GRAND ALLIANCE with bjp is yet to take place for Uttar Pradesh. Talks have begun but we cannot say what conclusion slipped so far. Talking to reporters after announcing assembly elections in five states on Saturday, JD(U) National President Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that we are contesting on our own in Manipur and Goa. BJD to field its candidates in UP assembly elections. National Principal General Secretary and UP in-charge KC Tyagi has held talks with UP CM Yogi Adityanath in this regard. However, in UP, the BJP has not opened the card with any of its allies on the number of seats.
