Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Punjab and Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank (PMC Bank) depositors outside the BJP office in Mumbai this afternoon. Speaking with the depositors, the Minister informed them that the RBI is looking into the matter.
Later, talking to media at the party headquarter, Ms Sitharaman said, she will speak to the RBI governor on urgency about distress of the PMC depositors. She said, a legislation will be tabled in Winter Session of Parliament to improve governing of multi-state cooperative banks.
