The Format

Foundamental University is built around long-form conversations rather than short-form thought leadership or conference-style panels. Each session is designed to surface the kind of practical insight that is often hard to access from the outside: lessons shaped by real decisions, real trade-offs and years of operating experience across construction, infrastructure, building materials and adjacent industrial sectors. By making these conversations available on demand, the platform aims to open up knowledge that is often shared informally, but rarely captured in a way that others can learn from more broadly.

Nina Weidenauer, Head of Communications at Foundamental: “I spent the past year sitting down with each of these 13 people. Every conversation turned into its own universe, from

near-death startup moments to reinventing century-old industries. What surprised me most was how disarmingly honest everyone was. This isn’t polished conference content. These are real stories from people who’ve actually been in the arena.”

“Over the last six years, we kept seeing the same pattern: the people building the most important companies in the project economy were learning lessons the hard way, but those lessons rarely became accessible to others,” said Patric Hellermann, Managing Partner at Foundamental. “Foundamental University started from a simple idea: if we could capture those conversations in depth, we could open up knowledge that usually stays locked inside boardrooms, job sites and founder circles.”
