Free health to nearly 8 lac Urban Poor in the city

Hyderabad: Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), a health care NGO, provided free healthcare to about 8 lac Urban poor for the year 2023-24, covering over 100 plus Urban slums and 17 villages in R.R. District.

Muslim Minority comprise about 43% of the total Hyderabad City population and about 60% of them constitute the weaker sections. Thus, by providing Free Health Care to 8 lacs poor patients, HHF has covered 30%. This significantly contributed to Strategic Development Goals (SDGs) as outlined by the UN to end poverty and inequality of these 8  lacs beneficiaries.

On the eve of Ramadan, HHF released it Annual Activity Report for 2023-24 by Dr. Abdullah Jolam Madani -Head of Jamia Darussalam Oomerabad, Tamil Nadu – one the leading Islamic University released the report. On this occasion Dr. Abdullah Jolam Madani, said that Islam places a huge premium on welfare of the society and civil society organisations who are doing good work must continue to work for all regardless of faith and religion.

Hyderabad receives hundreds of Crores of Zakat but unfortunately this has not been able to transform lives and bring the poor out of poverty. Charity when organised transparently with integrity and with right focus can make a difference, said Mujtaba Hasan Askari of Helping Hand Foundation.

Impact & Reach 2023 -24:

–  Gross Receipts /Donations stood at Rs 16.35 Crores (2023-24).

– About 7.94 lacs beneficiaries, received Free Health Care and other related social services (2023-24)

–   The net savings of beneficiaries on account of our various free services stood Rs 66.22 Crores (Out of pocket expenses Saved).

–  We fully sponsored 155 Paediatric Cardiac Surgeries of children from weaker sections till date.

–  22k Poor patients bills in hospitals were partially or fully settled

– 12 Primary Health Care across 100 Plus Urban Slums served over 5 lac poor patients.

– 13 Help Desks in Government Hospitals facilitated Zero Cost Treatments to over 2 lac poor patients.

– 9500 Free Dialysis Sessions were done from our Dialysis Center.

– Over 17k patients across 11 Villages in Maheshwaram Mandal were provided free Primary Care.

– Round the clock Health services were provided to 204 TMREIS Schools covering 1.5 lac students across all districts of Telangana.

– Conducted one of the largest & one of its kind Health Screening Program for Hyderabad City Police covering 17.5k Cops.
