Hyderabad : The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), a 109-year-old apex trade, commerce and industry body, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with fervour, zeal and patriotic spirit at Federation House in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Speaking after hoisting the National Flag, Mr. K.K. Maheshwari, President, FTCCI, said that India’s freedom was achieved after years of struggle and immense sacrifice, and it was the responsibility of every citizen to ensure that those sacrifices did not go in vain.
“India today is one of the most vibrant economies in the world and has set itself an ambitious goal of becoming a $30 trillion economy by 2047. To realise this dream, we need vibrant agriculture, a strong industrial base and sustained economic growth,” he said.
Mr. Maheshwari said that FTCCI has an important role to play in this journey by acting as a bridge between industry and policymakers, voicing the concerns and aspirations of the business community and contributing to economic growth, policy reforms and global competitiveness.
Mr. Priya Ranjan Sarkar, popularly known as the ‘Flag Man of Bengal’, who was in the city at the invitation of the PR CommUNITY was the Guest of Honour. Addressing a gathering of over 100 members, guests and staff, he delivered a powerful message on patriotism and respect for the National Flag.
“Main rahun, na rahun… Tiranga aur desh hamesha rahenge,” he said, emphasising that individuals may come and go, but the Tricolour and the nation will endure.
He urged everyone to work towards ensuring that India continues its journey among the community of developed nations. He also made a heartfelt appeal to citizens to respect the National Flag not merely during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, but even after the celebrations are over.
“We proudly display and hoist the Tiranga during national celebrations. But we must also ensure that the National Flag is handled with dignity and disposed of respectfully after its use,” he said.
Mr. Srinivas Garimella, Senior Vice President, FTCCI, said that the Chamber has been playing a catalytic role in the economic development of Telangana and the country. He called upon everyone to dedicate themselves to the larger national goals and contribute towards fulfilling the aspirations set for the country.
Several members of FTCCI, Committee Chairs and representatives of PR CommUNITY joined the Independence Day celebrations, including Mr. R. Ravi Kumar, Mr. Suresh Singhal, Mr. Raju, Ms. Reena, Mr. Hariharan, Mr. Saikat Banerjee and Mr. Rana.
The celebrations reflected the spirit of patriotism and also carried an important message — that while celebrating the Tiranga is a matter of pride, respecting it at all times is a responsibility shared by every Indian.
