The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam Government to use 435 Assam Police officials only for the purpose of conducting investigations of the criminal cases registered in various police stations in the state.
A Division Bench of the court in an order issued recently has made it clear that these police officials will not be used for any other purposes except in extreme emergency situation.
The high court has also directed that the Guwahati Crime Branch Police Station will be manned exclusively from within the list of 435 police officials earmarked for the purpose of investigation only.
The court also told State Government to submit progress on 6th of December on the matter
