Glimpses of tribal art and culture of Madhya Pradesh at Tribes India ‘Adi Mahotsav’

Bhopal: The rich tribal art and culture of Madhya Pradesh is the centre of attraction at the Adi Mahotsav organized by Tribes India at Delhi Haat of Tribes India.

About a dozen stalls including Chanderi garments of Sahariya tribe of Ashoknagar, Bagh print of Bhilala tribe of Dhar, Maheshwari garments of Bhilala tribe of Khargone district, iron art works of Agariya tribe of Dindori district, Jhabua dolls and pearl jewellry of Bhil tribe of Jhabua have been put up by the tribes of Madhya Pradesh at the Adi Mahotsav. Stalls of forest produce of Sihor and organic products of Satna have also been put up at the festival. Live demonstration of his traditional painting is also being done by Pardhan Gaur painters from Baiga and Bhopal of Umaria district. It may be noted that ‘Adi Mahotsav’ organized under the aegis of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Association of India under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is an annual programme which was started in 2017. In the festival which will continue till February 15,  tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, textiles and jewelery will be on display for sale through over 200 stalls. About one thousand tribals and artisans from all over the country are participating in the festival.
