Gujarat govt orders 25 % reduction in school tuition fees

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Government has ordered 25 percent reduction in school tuition fees for the current academic year. 

According to a notification issued by the State Education Department, the fee reduction will be applicable for all self-financed schools under the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, CBSE and other boards in the state. According to notification, the schools will not be permitted to collect any other fees including transport fees and other activities fees during the current academic year.

The  parents have been requested to pay the fees for the last academic year and 50 percent fees of the first half by the end of October. The government has asked the managements of self-financed school to give relief to the parents who are not in position to pay the fees.

The government has asked the school managements not to pressurize the parents to pay the fees together and facilitate them for monthly installments. It was also said that the management cannot impose any fine or penalty for late payment of fees. If the parent has paid the fees for the entire year, the 25 percent rebate will have to be adjusted in the next academic session.
