In Gujarat, the total number of Covid 19 cases reached to 54,712 with 1,081 fresh cases reported yesterday. The state reported 782 discharges yesterday. So far, more than 39,500 patients have been recovered from Covid 19 in the state. AIR correspondent reports that the situation in Surat remains alarming.
Surat district continues to report the highest number of new cases in the state., It added 276 fresh cases yesterday, taking the count to 11,969. A total of 181 cases were reported from Surat city alone. Also, out of the total 22 deaths reported from the state in the last 24 hours, 11 were from Surat.
Looking at the worsening situation, Surat Municipal Corporation has warned people of legal action for violating home quarantine norms. FIR will be registered against those who caught venturing out.
Meanwhile, State transport as well as private luxury bus service will be suspended in Surat for 10 days from Monday. With fresh 94 cases, the number of cases in Vadodara crossed 4000 mark yesterday.
Ahmedabad added 180 new cases. Out of the 33 districts, 24 districts reported fresh cases yesterday. Over 13,900 samples were tested across the state in the last 24 hours. The health department said the state is conducting around 214 tests per day per million population.
