In Kargil district of the Ladakh union territory, harvesting of barley crop has started smoothly amidst the Pandemic Covid 19. Farmers have harvested a bumper crop this year despite the nationwide lockdown due to the spread of Covid-19.
According to a farmer Nissar Hussain from Goma Kargil in Kargil Town, this year due to the lockdown all the family members engaged in the process of sowing till harvesting and it has helped the farmers in reducing the cost of labour also.
It is expected that the farmers of Kargil will harvest a bumper Barley Crop as well as the second crop where there is no issue of Water. However, most of the villages including Hunderman, Hunderman Brok, Biamathang, Baroo, Soth have faced drought Like situations and the farmers are demanding relief.
