Kokrajhar: As part of Assam Chief Minister initiative towards building a healthy nation and goal of Malnutrition free Assam, a “Healthy Child Award” distribution program was held at the DC’s Conference Hall in Kokrajhar today.
Organised by Women and Child Development department, Kokrajhar in collaboration with District administration, total seven (7) healthy child under Kokrajhar Parliamentary constituency including
2 child from 30 East kokrajhar Assembly, 1 child from 29 West Kokrajhar LAC and 4 child from 28 Gossaigaon Assembly constituency were handed over Healthy Child Award.
Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary, Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka attended the program and handed over the awards which includes a certificate, gamosa, Aronai, play items and Busket filled with nutritious food items.
The child mother, Anganwadi worker were also felicitated on the occasion.
Kokrajhar DC Varnali Deka said the main aimed of Healthy Child Award is to improve nutrition in infants/children through enhanced social awareness and mobilize community participation for health and nutrition issues in the state.
In his speech MLA Lawrence Islary stressed on importance of having nutritious food for the good health of young children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women. He also spoke on Poshan Abhiyan and urged the Anganwadi worker, supervisor to reach out to the public in remote areas and villages.
MLA Jiron Basumatary also spoke on the occasion.
Social Welfare department CHD Monideepa Saikia, Kokrajhar ADC Subham Aditya Bora, District Social Welfare Officer Gunindra Talukder, Coordinator Pohan Abhiyan Kokrajhar Nisha Narzary, ICDS Supervisors, anganwadi workers were among those present on the occasion.
