KMB conducted raid on single use plastic in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) officials have started taking action against shopkeepers violating the ban on plastic items, which came into effect on July 1, in the town area.

Kokrajhar Municipal Board and Pollution Control Board, Kokrajhar on Monday as per the instruction of Pollution Control Board, Assam conducted checks at various shops in Kokrajhar town area, including in Main bazaar area and seized single-use plastic articles.

The operation was carried out jointly by Kokrajhar Municipal Board led by Chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board Pratibha Brahma, Executive Officer and Kokrajhar Circle Officer Rahul Phukan, and Pollution Control Board, Kokrajhar

“A raid operation of prohibition of production, stocking, distribution, sale & use of single use plastic items is being carried out by Kokrajhar Municipal Board and Pollution Control Board, Kokrajhar in Kokrajhar town as per the instruction of Pollution Control Board, Assam, said Chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board Pratibha Brahma.

During the operation cup and plate, spoon, carry bag, ear bud, balloons sticks, flags, candy sticks, cigarette packets, PvC banners, thermocol plates, straws and  other items made of plastics which are less than 75 micron are ceased from the shopkeepers and penalties have been imposed.
