Bhopal : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Bhopal, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Guna, Raisen, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur have broken all previous records in the central and eastern parts of the state due to continuous rain in the last 48 hours. Rivers are flowing above the danger mark at many places. Water logging situation exists in some villages. The Chief Minister said that I myself have been continuously monitoring the situation since yesterday. In the last 24 hours, we have rescued more than 400 people surrounded by water from villages. Around 2300 people have been shifted to safer places. Teams of NDRF, SDRF and district administration are constantly engaged in the rescue operation. We have dispatched a helicopter to arrange for airlifting and another helicopter is on its way. Apart from this, a third helicopter has also been called. People living in low-lying places are being brought to safer places.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said this in a message to the media this morning after a review meeting held at the residence office on the ongoing rains, flood situation in various districts and relief works.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that he visited the State Situation Room at Mantralaya in the night and took stock of the situation in the state. He sought information about the rain status from the collectors of the districts and gave necessary instructions regarding rescue and relief work. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan himself stepped out at night to take stock of the situation in Bhopal city. He observed the action being taken by the employees of the Electricity Board in Civil Lines to solve the power problems caused by excessive rain and appreciated the alertness of the employees and discharge of duty in difficult situations. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, in a review meeting at his residence this morning, directed to take all necessary steps by virtually connecting with the affected districts.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the state government stands with the people of the state in this hour of crisis. We will leave no stone unturned in undertaking relief and rescue work. Every effort will be made to make up for the damage caused by the heavy rains. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan requested the people of the state to work with patience and restraint. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that he himself is visiting the flood affected areas. People of the state should be patient, soon the state will come out of this hour of crisis.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that due to incessant rains, the dams are full and gates of many dams have to be opened. In Vidisha district, the Betwa river and its tributaries are in spate, many villages are submerged in water. The Parvati river is also flowing above the danger mark in Guna and while in Narmada, the water level is decreasing at many places, it is also increasing at places like Nemavar.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that 1200 people are being accommodated in 18 relief camps in Vidisha district alone. Efforts are on to make necessary arrangements. Rescue operations are also going on in many villages in Vidisha. As many as 25 villages in Vidisha and Guna districts have been submerged in floods. Out of these, people from 10 villages are being airlifted by helicopter. 500 people have been accommodated in relief camps in Rajgarh district. We are constantly keeping an eye on Kalisindh, Parvati, Chambal rivers. Two teams of NDRF in Narmadapuram, two in Vidisha, one in Jabalpur, one in Sehore, one team each in Bhopal and Guna while four teams of SDRF in Vidisha, two in Rajgarh, three in Guna are continuously running rescue operations through boats. Continuous monitoring is also being done in Agar-Malwa, Ratlam and Shajapur districts.
Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri S.N. Mishra, Director General of Police Shri Sudhir Saxena and other officers were present in the morning meeting held at CM residence office. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also inquired about the situation from the officials of Vidisha, Rajgarh and Guna districts.
