Honest taxpayers will be rewarded by restarting Bhamashah Yojana

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that awards will be given under Bhamashah Yojana in the new financial year to encourage honest taxpayers in the state. Effective action should be taken to curb tax evasion for which combined efforts should be made by the Central and State GST officers. Action should be taken to increase revenue in such a way that the public does not face any problem. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was addressing the One Nation One Tax “Ek Bharat Sashakt Bharat” meeting in Mantralaya today. It was informed at the meeting that tax evasion of Rs 492 crores was detected through data analysis this financial year, following which Rs 203 crores have been deposited in government treasury by taking action of enforcement. A total of 1332 vehicles have also been penalized for evasion of tax. In this financial year, more than Rs 300 crores will be received through enforcement. Tax evasion is being detected by analysis through NICK eWay bill portal data and other information technology channels.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that if the concerned departments of the central and state government make coordinated efforts for revenue collection, the collection will also increase and the public welfare works will be done in a better manner. This is a national task. Efforts must be made to bring good results with complete coordination and hard work. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also reviewed the work done by central and state government departments for tax collection.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that such a meeting has been held for the first time. Now this meeting will be held on a regular basis. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Prime Minister Shri Modi has also praised the achievements of the state in GST collection. GST collection in the state is better than in many states. Despite the Corona crisis, revenue collection has increased by four thousand crores. This is an example that opportunity even in times of disaster can be turned into an achievement. Constant efforts should be made to maintain this achievement. Public welfare works should continue. He said that commercial tax officers should work better through mutual coordination. The small taxpayer should not have to worry. Best practices of other states should also be adopted.

Bhamashah Yojana will be restarted to encourage honest taxpayers in the new financial year. After the end of this financial year, selected taxpayers should be rewarded. Effective action should be taken without putting the taxpayers to trouble, to increase revenue. The prevailing enforcement action against tax evaders should also be completed quickly so that the government can get more revenue and the cases of taxpayers can also be resolved soon. Statutory action should be taken after obtaining information from various sources of supply made by registered businessmen. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that efforts should be made to minimize the number of deemed registrations. Special attention should be paid to such businessmen. Awareness on the amendments of GST legislation should be increased through seminars and workshops. The Chief Minister said that concerted efforts should be made to increase revenue through maximum utilization of various data and information available in the database of Commercial Tax Department. Finance Minister Shri Jagdish Deora, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Shri Manoj Goel, Principal Secretary Smt. Deepali Rastogi, Commerciale Tax Commissioner Shri Raghavendra Singh were present in the meeting.

Officers and staff congratulated

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan congratulated Shri Deep Khare as well as Commercial Tax Officer Shri Dharmapal Sharma, Shri Rajesh Sodha and Sushri Richa Nogaria posted at Indore for best performance. Maximum 97.73 percent return has been filed by Circle 8 of Indore. Efforts to collect tax in new business areas near Indore are commendable. Shri Chouhan said that other districts should also follow Indore and bring good results. He congratulated Sushri Sangeeta Parihar, posted in Ujjain, for constructing helpdesk and organizing an awareness camp. In Ujjain, follow-up action was taken before the scheduled date and action has been taken against defaulters also. The Chief Minister also told to arrange for messages to be sent to taxpayers in Hindi in rural areas. He directed to maximize efforts to increase collection from January to March 2021 so that the damage to the economy during Corona crisis can be compensated.

4 lakh 35 thousand GST registrations in Madhya Pradesh

It was told at the meeting that the number of GST registrations in the country is 1.26 crore. Four lakh 35 thousand businessmen are registered in Madhya Pradesh. The number of general tax payers is 2 lakh 25 thousand. There are 39 thousand 926 composition tax payers in the state. The GST collection in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 4.09 percent compared to last year. The Indore and Ujjain circles have performed well in the circle offices in the GST 3B return filing. The return filing is being reviewed every month by 82 circle offices of 15 divisions of the department.

Chief Commissioner of CGST, Custom and Central Excise Bhopal Zone, Shri Vinod Kumar Saxena gave information about tax evasion cases in the meeting. He informed that there are a total of 21 zones in India. Bhopal zone includes Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Bhopal zone ranks second in the country in the period between April and December 2020. Other senior officers of Central government posted in Bhopal, Shri Abhi Kumar Shrivastava, Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, Shri Rajiv Kumar Agarwal and Kumar Aseem Vaibhav were also present in the meeting. Member of Centre and State GST also joined the meeting through video conference.
