Government today said that the implementation of the reservation policy in the lateral entry post is not feasible and viable. Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, recently on the recommendations of UPSC, eight candidates are appointed as Joint Secretary in the Government through lateral entry.
He said, all the selections are made in an objective and transparent manner. The Minister said, such lateral entry appointments were also undertaken during the previous governments. The Minister said, Government needs specialist for the various sectors and such appointment are made to achieve the purpose.
